“Help with computers” is the brainchild of Roger Yeates; Roger headed a software development team for a small part of BT, before taking early retirement a few years ago.
Recognising an increasing need for individuals and small businesses to access help and unbiassed advice locally, Roger has been offering “Help with computers” ever since.
Training
Roger has attended a number of formal courses in systems and software design, both practical and theoretical, over a long career in telecommunications and computers. He holds an Honours degree in mathematics and computing, as well as numerous vocational qualifications in the same fields.
Experience
Roger became interested in electronics in the 1950s, and still maintains an interest in the subject; during the advent of the microprocessor during the 1970s, he built his own computers and went on to design computer-based test equipment for BT.
In 1982 he switched to working with computers full-time, designing and implementing “leading edge” integrations between computers and telephone switching equipment.
Current Work
The combination of both hardware and software experience has given Roger an enviable insight into the minds of the people who design and implement the complex technology that many of us have on our desks. In conjunction with managerial experience in high value and technically challenging projects, he can offer an unrivalled service to individuals and businesses alike in assisting with all manner of computer problems.
